RED STAR RAILWAYS

Books and Magazines

The books page hasn’t changed much recently, so I thought it was time to shake things up a bit!

With the help of Aigars Klavins of Miniaturmodelle, I have been able to secure some very useful Russian reference books, as well as Toms Altbergs’ excellent book on Latvian locomotives. Yes, I know – books are expensive. However, I thought it was important to make these books available to my customers.

Please note: shipping on books is expensive, and will be determined on an order-by-order basis (priority mail inside the United States, air mail to destinations outside our borders).

Latvijas Dzelzcelu Lokomotives

by Toms Altbergs

This book is stunning, and obviously a labor of love by its author. In its pages you will find the story of the locomotives of Latvia’s railways during that country’s first period of independence between the two world wars. It’s all here – broad gauge and narrow gauge, locomotives which were domestically built as well as imported from Germany, Poland, and elsewhere. Highly recommended. In Latvian, but don’t let that deter you! Hardbound. Format 8-1/2" x 11-3/4" (216mm x 298mm). 188 pages, 245 black and white photos, 144 tables and plans. $66.00.
